Read, Talk, Explore: Group Guide

A flexible read-aloud plan that allows children to participate in different ways.

Ages 5–8

How to use

Before reading: preview the book, select one theme and explain that children may speak, draw or listen. Avoid asking children to disclose private experiences.
During reading: pause at one illustration. Ask “What do you notice?” and “What might the character need?” Accept more than one possibility.
After reading: invite a drawing of a helpful next step. Discuss feeling words and kind choices. This general guide does not claim alignment with a formal curriculum.
